What’s in my (Vinted) wardrobe?
I simply can’t resist a good bargain, so much so I’m certain I’ve put delivery drivers back in work. Here is everything I purchased from Vinted this week for just £28.
I used to be a Depop girlie; saving and favouriting everything that caught my attention, creating a never-ending list of items I’ll never buy. That was before I found out about the real deal app of Vinted, a second-hand listing company boasting 77.31 million monthly visitors compared to its competitor Depop with 9.6 million. In fact, Vinted is just second amongst all other online fashion marketers such as ASOS with 64.16 million and FarFetch with 28.8 million.
“Do you see this coat?” – Kanye West.
As autumn is in full swing, it was only right I updated my current coat cycle. My Pinterest board was bursting with inspiration from Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie, and Jasmine Tookes – their chic, sophisticated and classy aesthetic was exactly what I wanted, and that was exactly the style I found. Just a few days later with the first of many knocks at my door, the package arrived. A cream-coloured oversized coat from Topshop, it’s boxy and broad shoulders leaving plenty of room for layering. Even better, I paid only £14. I must admit, I have worn it 3 times (and counting) already. It’s the perfect blanket-like coat you need for a dark and depressing morning university commute.
“On Wednesday’s we wear pink.” – Karen Smith.
As Mean Girls member Karin Smith once said, “On Wednesday’s we wear pink.” A statement I take very seriously. Most mornings as I am deciding what to wear whilst sadly looking at the wind and rain outside, I realise my autumnal knitwear department is lacking as instead I must opt for another crop top – not so weather appropriate. £3 found me this baby pink sleeveless knitted top with a neckline high enough to keep me toasty.
“Skirts should be the size of a belt. Life’s short, take risks.” – Paris Hilton.
Shopping second-hand can be daunting when you’re worried about sizing, there’s no receipts or returns over here, but for £6 I can justify this purchase - the itty bitty #miniskirt with 1 billion views on TikTok. I too fall victim to the trend. Whilst I already own a cute collection of Zara miniskirts, to others they may appear to be micro. Afterall, there is a lot of leg to cover when you’re 5’11. Being this tall comes with the task of finding appropriate lengths, a task I took up on my next Vinted search. I decided to size up this time from a small to medium in hope that it would be a little longer than usual - even if that did mean sacrificing it fitting my waist. With a little luck and a few key words later (there’s a knack to finding the best deals), I found yet another black pleated Zara mini skirt.
After thanking Mr Postman once again, I excitedly ripped open the parcel but felt rather unsatisfied once the fabric brushed my body. If I was to try this skirt on in a Zara store, I wouldn’t have brought it. Anything I don’t immediately fall in love with swiftly makes its way back onto the rack. Luckily, the skirt was salvageable and although it may not look much on its own, paired with a chunky jumper and bold black chunky boots makes it the perfect style for this season. Besides, I can’t complain after wiggling my way down from £10 to £6.
“Oh my God, I love your skirt! Where did you get it?” – Regina George.
We all impulse buy…(right?) That’s exactly what this purchase was. In the brightest shade of the prettiest pink, I’m convinced this mini skirt would look better on Barbie herself. Zara is clearly the place to go if you want to find a mini skirt this year, but if you want to save yourself some pennies just look on Vinted to find them for £5 like this one here.
You might be wondering why I have purchased another mini skirt despite complaining about the lack of clothes I have for the cold, but for £23, a win is a win. Now I just need to find some space to store them in a room overflowing with clothes that perhaps I should put on Vinted myself.
